The charity, ‘Kids in Museums’ have declared the most family friendly museum in the country to be Falmouth’s Maritime Museum, so if you are bringing children on holiday, you must visit this most interesting of venues. Children will also enjoy living in a lighthouse as their holiday accommodation. Well, they will think it is a lighthouse, when in fact, it was a meteorological observation tower, but they won’t want to know that, I suspect. The observatory tower is located high up in the centre of Falmouth town where it offers wonderful panoramic views of the harbour and the countryside beyond.
There’s lots to do, apart from visiting the museum, like spending the day on one of the three safe beaches, visiting a real castle overlooking the entrance to the harbour, or taking a ferry ride across to the village of St Mawes where there is another castle on the water’s edge. You will always find it a pleasure to return to your unique holiday accommodation, which is beautifully appointed with all mod cons.
If you come without children, there’s plenty of nightlife and good restaurants and, if you have transport, Cornwall is a delightful county with a vast number of small villages, coves and sandy beaches waiting to be discovered. If you like walking or cycling, there’s a maze of public paths, bridal ways and country lanes to explore. To check out the availability of the observatory tower click here.
