If you have booked the week 25th to 31st August 2014 for your holiday in Falmouth, you will be overwhelmed by the sheer activity in Falmouth Harbour during that week. To be able to sit in the observation deck of The Observatory Tower, after a day of sightseeing, will convince you that you have chosen the best holiday cottage in the land.
All types of sailing vessels will be coming, from gaff and Bermudan rigged cutters, yawls, ketches and schooners, to fully rigged square sailed vessels of years gone by. Falmouth Harbour is expecting at least fifty vessels, some of which will berth alongside and can be viewed from nearby vantage points. Large vessels will be open to the public at Queen’s Wharf, Falmouth Docks.
On 31st August, three days after their arrival, the ships will leave Falmouth Harbour for the race to the Isle of Wight. From there, they will proceed to the River Thames, finally berthing at the Royal port of Greenwich, London where more celebrations will take place.
